Despite their success, they decided to sell the company in 1999 for $307 million in cash and $34 million in securities to AltaVista.
After that, he started at the electronic payments Project, creating a company called X.com which changed its name in 2001 to Paypal, the company continues to be very well positioned in the market and he, after some inconveniences became the president and CEO of this trade; however, it was bought by eBay and Elon received $180 million for its participation in the company.
Creation of SpaceX
With the money from the sale of Paypal, Elon Musk created Space Exploration Technologies Corporation or better known as SpaceX, said Company was created with the idea of building rockets that allow commercial travel to all people. The cooperation between these two companies has been considered as a historic moment because it is the first private spacecraft to transfer astronauts to the International Space Station (EEI).
The launch of the Falcon9 rocket with the Crew Dragon capsule took place on May 30 at the Kennedy Space Center in the Cape Canaveral where astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley travelled to the EEI; they commented that the aircraft took about nine minutes to reach its initial orbit, the interesting thing is that a part of such aircraft was returned to Earth so that it could be used again.
