In an article published in January this year, the Facebook team hired a company to conduct an online survey of 12,500 people between the ages of 18 and 64 in 14 markets worldwide to understand emissions are the forces that define the future, today. They found that there are four forces; however, there is one, in particular, that is very interesting: “people are eager to find alternative ways to make better use of their time”.

The comfort gap
According to the study, 90% of the people surveyed worldwide “actively seek ways to simplify their lives.” We live in a society with an increasingly dizzying pace of life, where certain objectives and goals need to be met in the shortest time possible and activities such as making daily purchases or hiring a service do not escape this reality. This is also reflected in the study, as it shows that 86% of these people who “seek comfort would pay for products or services that allow them to save time.”
Time to be invested in other activities
We can think that the people surveyed want to save time in certain activities to dedicate it to taking a nap, which is undoubtedly a way to rest. However, the survey shows that over 60% of people prefer to spend that saved time on activities such as spending time with loved ones, exercising, learning a new skill that improves their income, and traveling. Only 35% of those surveyed would invest this time in giving back to the community, doing charitable activities, volunteering, teaching, etc.
All this makes sense, it is that who would not like to spend more time with their parents, friends, partner, or family in general? Isn’t it anyone’s desire to travel and see the world without worrying about the various tasks that you have to accomplish daily? How many times have you had the desire, but not the time, to learn to play an instrument or to improve your physical condition through the practice of a sport? Saving money is important, but there is an increasing need to save time and people are beginning to value this non-renewable resource.
How does time define the future, today?
Given this data, the question above immediately comes to mind, including brand owners and any entrepreneur who wants to open a place in a specific market. The key to all this is to save customers time: According to the article, “brands that save people time can earn an eternal place in the hearts and pockets of consumers because they offer minimal friction shopping experiences, more mobile payment options, or a faster service through messaging apps ”.
