You have to love what you do
You have to love the work you do, live in the present, but project yourself into the future in an operational manner. Bezos shows that his work is not in the now but one or two years in the future, so you have to leave fear behind and not only think about what may happen at this moment but establish both strategies and actions, to be able to make the business work for the long term.
Innovating does not mean being understood
Usually, when you design something new and are innovative, people misinterpret ideas and have a misconception about a product or service. If they cannot tolerate it, it is best not to do anything like this. Much of what Jeff Bezos has done showed misinterpretation and harsh criticism, with the intention that they should not carry it out, however, do not stray from the goal simply because a few do not understand it.
Learn to handle criticism
Bezos’s approach to criticism is first to look in the mirror and see if this is correct. If it is not, change it; it also explains that there are criticisms with good intentions, and they worry they won’t work, but they want them to, for example, negative reviews from customers who are looking for a better service and help you grow; but there is also the type of selfish criticism that tries to maintain the old paradigms and prevent them from prospering; so, you have to know how to identify the difference between them and only take the criticisms that allow you to be better.
Be effective
You have to know all the information and be prepared for any situation that may be conflicting, that is why in Amazon meetings, a previous time is established for reading a memo so that all team members are soaked in the information, and they can look for effective solutions to the problems that arise; it is about taking advantage of time, information, and knowledge to face conflicts in the most efficient way possible.
Let it be an impulse, not a hindrance
By being aware of our strengths and weaknesses, we can use criticism as an impulse and a means to grow and develop ideas, optimizing processes, refining details, growing both personally and professionally, otherwise; if as entrepreneurs, we see criticism as a hindrance, we lock ourselves and think as a magnifying glass that maximizes defects: It will not be possible to achieve objectives that will allow ideas to crystallize and give life to the business.
