The concept of the office in 2020 has taken a radical turn that was not expected, the face-to-face work format with established hours has been displaced by the need to reinvent workspaces and rules thanks to the influence of Covid-19 since despite the fact that it is a pandemic, it is necessary for companies to continue operating and for this it has been necessary to change paradigms and make the rules more flexible, relying in many cases on digital tools, that is why David Mott, Founding partner of Oxford Capital, a real estate investment firm, shows various models of emerging offices that can represent not only the future but the immediate reality of organizations.

Completely remote work
Thanks to digital tools such as Zoom, Slack or Facebook Workplace, remote work is the solution for many businesses, even allowing them to expand their human capital with the incorporation of talents beyond their area; The main against this model is the lack of contact between the members of the work team since many people are used to this interaction and prefer to continue with a traditional style, however, open your eyes to this possibility of carrying out all the activities without being limited to space and even a schedule, it can be equally close, fun and have the same human warmth.
In the combination can be the solution
Combining work from home with interaction in the office is also one of the models proposed by Mott, under two different modalities: Hybrid, making an appearance at the office two or three days a week and the rest doing it remotely; and the remote plus model, where activities are carried out from the workplace for a full week and the remaining three weeks of the month, tasks are remote.
In this way, the aim is to balance professional and personal life, in addition to reducing stress due to transfers and possible risk of exposure to the virus. It should be noted that face-to-face activities are always considered under the recommended biosafety protocols and even limiting the number of people per day in the facilities.
Hub & Spoke
This is a concept based on the radial distribution as if it were a sun, which is the center, with its rays expanding, so it consists of the office covering remote offices in several cities or even countries in order to take advantage of local talent, and if there are colleagues in the same area, they can socialize more frequently or work from wherever they want for as long as they need.
Quality time-based results
Another model that Mott refers to is for those companies that prefer to focus on quality rather than time invested since their way of thinking is related to the fact that each employee has their ways and times, so it offers greater flexibility so that other activities can be carried out, for example: of a family nature, as long as work commitments are fulfilled. This model requires great trust in the worker since it does not consist of continuous supervision.
Do you think that the traditional office is a thing of the past? Are you currently working under a model similar to these?
